Economics

You’ll develop the cultural awareness and critical thinking skills you need to analyze and produce a broad range of discourse in a full spectrum of careers — and to make a difference in whatever you do.

Overview

Economics is a social science that studies how individuals, businesses, governments, and societies allocate resources to meet their needs and wants. It examines production, distribution, and consumption of goods and services, as well as how economic agents make decisions. The field is divided into two main branches:

  1. Microeconomics – Focuses on individual markets, consumer behavior, and business decision-making.

  2. Macroeconomics – Deals with national and global economic issues, such as inflation, unemployment, economic growth, and fiscal policies.

Studying economics provides students with analytical and problem-solving skills, helping them understand real-world economic challenges and formulate policies or strategies to address them.
